Top 10 Things to Know About Us

  1. Independent – We are self employed with advisors who are affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network and as a result we can recommend investments, resources and tools that are outside the scope of Commonwealth but not without their oversight, support and direction. Commonwealth doesn’t have proprietary products nor will you find their name at a bank, trust company or publicly advertised.
  2. Employee Owned – We, like many of our clients, manage our own small business. RSF is 100% owned by Terry, Kaleb and Joe. Our advisors choose to affiliate with an independent broker/dealer that holds similar values and high service standards – Commonwealth Financial Network – who is also privately owned.
  3. Multigenerational – each partner brings a different perspective because of his own strengths and interests. Even though each partner is different, we have very similar concerns, goals and values when it comes to our practice. As a result, we are positioned better by appreciating what multigenerational families’ value and need.
  4. Discretionary Investment Management – Allows us to respond proactively and to take advantage of potential opportunities during periods of panic or greed. We dearly value having the authority to rebalance our clients’ accounts and then communicate what we did and the reasoning behind the change.
  5. Investment Models & Performance – Whether you manage your own portfolio, follow our group’s low cost investment strategy or retain a third party money manager through Commonwealth’s large network, we believe that sticking to a financial plan coupled with asset allocation is the largest common denominator in a successful investment strategy. The biggest detriments – fear and greed. In other words our emotions. We can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to outperform an index or another advisor down the street. However we can guarantee that we’ll give you our full effort to make sure your investment portfolio and overall financial plan is developed and allocated in a way for you to accomplish your goals and to pass those values onto future generations.
  6. We Practice What We Preach – At any point, we are more than willing to display our personal financial situations and what we do personally.
  7. Frugal – We see profitability as an engine of morality! We’re small-town boys and much like our clients, we find comfort in working with those who have embraced the frugal (not cheap) mindset of the millionaire next door. Not too unlike our typical client, RSF willing pays for great service, albeit Commonwealth.
  8. General Contractor – It is our goal to earn the role of general contractor of your financial plan. In our opinion, the worst thing that can happen to a financial plan is when a client’s advisors work independent of each other creating wonderful silos that fail to effectively communicate. It is our goal for all our client’s strategic advisors to work interdependently with each other and we’re more than willing to be the point man.
  9. Flat Retainer Fee Model – To piggy back on our group’s philosophy of being our clients’ general contractor, we believe the most ethical and impartial way to accomplish this is through a flat retainer fee that is unadjusted (up or down) for three years. We believe an advisory group should not be compensated solely based upon the assets they have in custody with their broker/dealer. Thereby more effectively removing another obstacle of conflict that has too often gone in the way of counsel under the “1% fee” based upon AUM – assets under management.
  10. Our Barn – As our founder Joel routinely stated “We have only so many stalls in our barn.” This means that we are only able to take care of a certain amount of client relationships and as a result we are typically only a fit for a select few; however we do aim to treat every introduction in a very respectable manner, so don’t hesitate.

Asset allocation programs do not assure a profit or protect against loss in declining markets. No program can guarantee that any objective or goal will be achieved.
